Gloom Gazers are giant multilayered plants shaped like upside down umbrellas that grow down from the cavern ceiling around stalactites in the Gloom. The stalactites allow the plant to grow further past the ceiling and give the added benefit of adding extra security to the stalactites. Their ability to wrap around stalactites is partially due to the fact that the Gloom Gazers seen in the Gloom are actually the root system to certain surface plants. Meaning the plant on the surface they are connected to can span for miles. It is believed that the surface plants absorb ultraviolet rays from the sun and then send the excess solar energy down through their root system to be dispersed by the Gloom Gazers. This makes them essential for the plant life of the Gloom, as it allows them to photosynthesize without the need of the actual sun. This causes a majority of the plant life in the gloom to be located in the spaces directly beneath the Gloom Gazers. The ultraviolet light they produce is displayed as a light purple color that can be seen from below by citizens of the Gloom. This has led many Gloom residents to colloquially refer to the plants as Tenebres Stars. Named after the god of darkness tenebre and the star-like appearance the Gloom Gazers have from below. Despite their necessity the ultraviolet light they produce is not constant. When daylight ceases on the surface it causes the flowering part of the plants that produce the ultraviolet light to close up just like the setting of the sun. What's more, once the Gloom Gazers close for the night the flowers of the Dark Dazzle Shrub illuminate. For residents of the Gloom the activity of these two plants are often used as an indicator of a day night cycle.

This plant is called a Gloom Gazers and lives mostly within the Gloom.
