The boiling waters of Veargreums geysers are home to a beautiful species of avian known as the Setrogon. These birds of prey spend their days either diving into the waters depths or patrolling the shallow waters in search of small crustaceans like the Firelit Crawfish. Although Firelit Crawfish wield fire magic they are no match for the Setrogons. These birds possess magical antlers that are able to absorb and even redirect fire magic. Most locals believe that the Setrogons were gifted these magical antlers when they departed the celestial realm to live among mortals. This belief, whether true or not, makes the Setrogon a sacred creature among the Geyser locals. Law states it is forbidden to hunt or harm one in any way. In fact most humanoids in the area bow to these birds when they come in contact. Unfortunately, this special treatment has led to an arrogance among Setrogons. Now the birds expect deep respect from every humanoid they encounter. Even going as far as stealing from local towns or travelers, or attacking those who did not show the bird adequate respect. However, this treatment does not apply to the local wildlife. Dangerous predators like Melters Maws or Caustic Comets will snatch up an unwary adult Setrogon if it's not careful. When it comes to finding a mate male Setrogons with the largest most ornate antlers are seen as the most desirable. When courting the males bow to the females to show their strength in lowering and raising their heavy antlers.
