In Dead Man’s Drop Forest there is a wide variety of plant life. One such plant that grows here is known as the Velheim. This large flowering plant's leaves can reach up to 2 meters or 6ft in length. They are typically found growing upon trees in large clusters. The plants grow upon trees for support and the tree's height helps the Velheim to reach sunlight closer to the forest canopy. In fact these plants can grow on trees in such large quantities the tree can be completely taken over by the plants. Unlike many plants the Velheims leaves are closed into a bulb shape during the day, only to fully open after the sun has set. This is because during the day the large plant bulbs house an insect species native to the forest. These insects known as Vuhorns, use the plants to protect them from the sun's harsh light. In return the Vuhorns act as bodyguards for the plants, from hungry herbivores. Chemicals the plant produces are also theorized to be how the Vuhorn Moths get their glowing abdomens. Natives of Dead Man’s Drop Forest know to avoid the plants as the sun begins to set, or face the Vuhorns wrath.
