Fortune Fangs are carnivorous plants that thrive in ancient dungeons and long-forgotten ruins. In these dark, damp environments—far removed from the sun's light—they've evolved a unique strategy for survival. Unlike most plants, which avoid growing too close to others to limit competition for nutrients, the Fortune Fang prefers dense, overgrown dungeon sections filled with other vegetation. Here, it lies in wait to spring its trap.

Instead of relying on photosynthesis, the Fortune Fang has developed a pseudo-mouth lined with jagged, fang-like structures. This mouth remains open in anticipation until it senses the body heat of a living creature. Once a target comes within range, the maw snaps shut—either to slowly digest its prey or, in the case of larger victims, tear off a chunk of flesh.

Over time, these plants adapted to the habits of their environment’s most frequent visitors: treasure hunters and adventurers. Along its vines and in the center of its mouth, the Fortune Fang grows coin-shaped nodules that resemble real coins. These shiny lures attract greedy adventurers, while their bright metallic hues also draw in unintelligent prey captivated by the glint. Fortune Fangs range in size from small enough to fit in the palm of a hand to large enough to swallow a Ruin Wrecker whole.

Interestingly, the color of the fake coins corresponds to the plant’s size. Smaller specimens mimic copper or silver, while larger ones display gleaming gold or platinum hues. It's believed these metallic colors result from the plant metabolizing the iron and minerals it absorbs from consumed armor and weaponry—repurposing the materials to grow even more convincing bait.

This plant is called a Fortune Fang and lives mostly within the Ruins.
