Living upon the backs of gigantic gelatinous creatures known as Benzoahs, dwells a fascinating form of insect. Living in large colonies are the Mallet Mites. The carapaces of these insects have the colors and textures of coral. This camouflage suits their lifestyle of living on and within the coral forests that grow upon the Benzoahs back. While the Mites' coloration aids them it is not their only defense. True to their name Mallet Mites have a strong set of hammer-like front appendages. These appendages have a variety of uses that range from self-defense, territorial disputes and most importantly making their homes. You see Mallet Mites use these hammer appendages to hammer burrows into the coral trees. However, oftentimes the Mites are not the only ones making burrows in the coral. Coral Carvers also use the interior of these coral structures as their homes. Not only that but just like the Mites the Carvers eat the coral. This means the Carvers and the Mites are competing over the same resources. This can lead to whole wars being fought over certain coral trees.
This CR1/8 creature is called a Mallet Mites and is a Beast that lives mostly within the Coral Jungle.
