Among the lush tree canopy in the Severed Wilds Jungle lives the Koat. These medium sized arboreal mammals spend their entire lives climbing among the tree branches. With their splayed clawed feet and long balancing prehensile tail they are more adapted for climbing than walking. Their thick shaggy feathers help aid in thermoregulation and provide them with better camouflage when moving around at night, a time when they are most active. An intelligent creature originally from the Fey realm. The Koat knows that by waiting for nightfall, they will more easily avoid larger predators that are active during the day. It is also the ideal time for the Koat to find food for themselves. Unlike most animals that either hunt or forage for food, the Koat is a thief. The Koat seek out Red-Manteled Fernsnapper colonies, in order to steal their nectar while they sleep. Luckily for the Koat, their strange glowing eyes allow them to detect the magic of other fey beings, like the Fernsnapper. This paired with the eyes' large size also gives them excellent night vision. Then once they have located a Snapper nest high in the trees it's time for the heist. Utilizing their proboscis-like tongues to plunge into the Fernsnappers small nest entrances to steal the hidden nectar.
