The Red-Mantled Fernsnapper is a small species of pollinator, only around 1ft in length and weighing a couple of ounces. While they may be a common jungle sight now the Fernsnappers originally hailed from the fey realm. Now the Fernsnappers are essential jungle pollinators, seeking out large flowers bearing fruits. Their tiny syringe-like fangs allow them to pierce the hard shelled fruits and suck up their juices. While consuming the delicious juices these small fey are able to hover in place. This unique style of flying is thanks to their wings being able to flap extremely fast, around 80 times per second. As the Fernsapper travels from fruit to fruit their feathery wings collect large quantities of pollen which is then distributed around the rest of the jungle. The pollen mixed with their fey magics also creates a minor healing factor for those that come in contact with the powdery wings. When not searching for food these creatures dwell in intricate nests built from jungle plants and hardened mud. The nests are generally built high in the treetops, near other Fernsnapper nests. These social colonies can get so large that entire trees are overtaken by the nests.
