When the shapeshifters known as Morphin-Menaces first escaped into the wilds of Veargreum many of them chose to take the forms of everyday household items to blend in. However, certain Menaces decided instead of hiding from humanoids they would be embraced by them. After observing humanoids, they noticed many of them had a love for canine creatures. This inspired the wayward shapeshifters to attempt a transformation into one of these beloved canines. Unfortunately, Morphin-Menaces are not designed to transform into organic creatures. This restriction was quite the hurdle for these shapeshifters to overcome. Taking several generations until they became something new entirely, the Grimcur. While Grimcurs do resemble canines the appearance is warped. The general shape of a dog is there but with long sharp claws, elongated spiked tails and a single large eye in the center of their chest. Sadly after all of this effort humanoids were only disgusted by the Grimcurs appearance. What's worse is that after countless generations of perfecting their new forms the Grimcurs are unable to transform into anything else. These dog-like shapeshifters were nearly driven to extinction along the edges of civilization by fearful humanoids. That was until a group of kind hearted farmers saw that these were not monsters but creatures just looking for acceptance. These farmers took in the poor creatures and put them to work on their farms. Their strange adaptations ended up being very valuable to working and protecting the farmers' fields. Now it is quite common to see Grimcurs happily tilling and watching over the farmlands of Veargreum.
