Smotherweed looks like a mass of interlocking net-like roots with thick silver leaves sprouting outward.. They seem to crawl across the ground as they rapidly expand in any given area. Originally these plants were created to test out the effectiveness of alchemically enhanced growth potions. Well the experiments might have been too successful as the plants began growing out of control. Now even a single seed from a Smotherweed will grow exponentially, choking out all other plant life in the area until only it remains. Not just plant life but any unlucky wild-life or even humanoids who aren't careful, might find themselves overtaken by the weeds' rapid growth. The scientists who developed it managed to keep it under control in their special greenhouses. Until of course the lab's destruction allowed the plant to escape. Now there are large areas of the island and lab completely covered with the plant. Luckily the plant seems to be a food source for one of the island's inhabitants helping to curb the population somewhat.
