Drift Stars are seaplants that grow out of the bottom of tidepools. They have long slender leaves that end in berries filled with oxygen, causing them to float to the surface like a fishing cork. It is believed the berries act this way in order to attract fish and other sea creatures, in order to disperse its seeds. You see, even if the berries floating does not attract a fish their bright glow will. The reason for wanting their berries consumed is the hope that whatever eats them will eventually excrete the seeds somewhere far away to start the next generation of plants. The berries themselves even have a sweet taste, making them even more tempting for consumption. Not only are they tasty but the fact that they float means even when the tide recedes, the berries can be detached and carried out to see by the ocean currents. This way even if a sea creature does not disperse the seeds for them, the ocean will instead. Humanoids have discovered that the glow of the berries has a strange magical effect. Soon after consuming the berries, their eyes will glow in the same color of the berries. While it may seem alarming at first the effect is only temporary, unless an excessive amount is consumed at once. This glowing effect has led to some individuals intentionally eating the berries at certain times, to either intimidate foes or put on an extravagant performance.
This plant is called a Drift Stars and lives mostly within the Tidepools.
