The freezing rocky cliff faces of the snowy peaks in the Tormek Mountains is the last place you would expect to find thriving plants. However, the Arctemone is a strange exception to the rule. These plants are specially adapted to the freezing temperatures and altitudes of the mountains. Arctemones roots dig deep into the cliff allowing them to stay firmly attached to the cliffs despite the snow and harsh winds. Why a plant would ever want to live here can be answered by a peculiar flying insect that resembles a fish. You see these Fraud Flies have a symbiotic relationship with the Artemone plant. The plant gives the insects a shelter from the freezing cold of the mountains while the Flies's bioluminescence attracts prey for the Artemone. That's right, the Arctemone is actually a carnivorous plant. In exchange for the Fraud Flies attracting prey, the Arctemone allows the Fraud Flies to live in the plant without fear of being consumed. This plant is sought after by alchemists for its core. You see the core of the plant is filled with Fraud Fly eggs which are perfect for cold resistance potions. What's challenging is getting to the plants as you have to both scale a snowy mountain and get past the Fraud Flies. While the Flies don't sting or bite they can flash bright lights from their wings to blind or disorientate creatures that might disturb their homes.
This plant is called an Arctemone and lives mostly within the Mountains.
