Spore Snufflers are huge pachyderm-like herd creatures native to the Fungal Forests. The striking polka dots and bright colors of the Snufflers fur is meant to showcase to potential predators their level of toxicity. Although as the Snufflers age their bright colors begin to dull, leaving their bulky sizes as their primary means of defense. Mostly inhabiting the spore swamps, which most creatures would find too toxic to survive. However, the Snufflers are actually responsible for the production of toxic spores in these very swamps. Rather the colony of Snuffleshroom fungus that grows on the Snufflers back and head are to blame. These mushrooms begin growing along the Snufflers back from a young age and gradually grow as the Snuffler grows. Researchers believe the Snuffleshrooms grow in this manner to avoid the Spore Snufflers voracious fungus appetites. It is much safer for these mushrooms to grow on top of them, instead of on the ground to be easily consumed. The additional benefit for the Snuffleshrooms is they gain extra height and mobility to spread their spores. As the Snufflers continuously move while using their trunks to consume less fortunate ground dwelling fungus. Luckily for the Snufflers they also gain an important benefit from these hitchhiking fungus. The fungus growing from their backs from such a young age gives Snufflers an immunity to the spores toxins and most known poisons. However, younger Snufflers are kept out of the deepest areas of the fungus swamps, to give their immunity time to heighten. The humanoid natives of the Fungal Forests prize the Spore Snufflers for their size and poison immunity. Making it a common sight to see domesticated Spore Snufflers within towns in the Fungal Forest.
