It is believed that the Snowpuppies originated from a more tropical area outside of the Valley of the Four Seasons, before large numbers migrated into the valley. At first the Snowpuppies' bodies would have been adapted for warmer climates and thus the first settlers to the Valley would have struggled to survive. However, the survivors continued to adapt to this chillier environment, until we ended up with the Snowpuppies of today. Now Snowpuppies are well adapted to the winter region of the valley. They grew in size to better retain heat and developed a thick layer of blubbery skin. If temperatures get too cold even for their thick skin Snowpuppies have been observed forming large cuddle piles underneath the snow, in order to better retain heat. Even while not fully hidden beneath the snow they can be difficult to spot, as their originally yellowish orange skin turned into a more fitting whitish blue. Despite their name Snowpuppies are not canines but are instead a large species of amphibian. Their name instead comes from their docile and friendly demeanor.
