Skydarters are beetles whose bodies are sheathed in a smooth, metallic exoskeleton that catches even the faintest light. When they move, their shells gleam in shifting tones of blue, green, and silver, like polished metal held beneath a clear sky.Their wings are thin and glasslike, yet strong, veined with faint lines that glow when they draw upon magical energy. In flight, the wings shimmer with layered color, creating the illusion of fragments of sky breaking loose and drifting through the air. At night, this shimmer deepens into a soft inner radiance. Six long, delicate legs extend from their compact thorax. Each limb ends in fine hooked tips that allow them to cling to stone, mortar, and even polished crystal. Their slender antennae sweep constantly through the air, quivering at subtle changes in pressure and heat that most creatures would never notice. The most remarkable trait of the Skydarter is its ability to generate a localized anti gravity field. This field is subtle but precise, allowing the insect to hover motionless or pivot in midair without visible effort. Observers often describe their flight as less like flapping and more like drifting with intent. This anti gravity control grants them erratic movement patterns that are nearly impossible to predict. They can dart sideways, halt instantly, or spiral upward along tower walls with effortless grace. Though they lack aggression, this maneuverability makes them extremely difficult prey for larger airborne hunters.
