Serrax are a commonly found Umbra species that inhabit the mountainous terrain of Geodius. Despite adults possessing a wingspan of around 15-20ft long, they are actually a food source for large Umbra species that dwell in Geodius. Evidence for this can be seen even in their physical appearance. Spikes along their backs are useful in deterring predators and their swiveling ears help them with sound detection. Not only that but their thick feathers are not just for insulation, their color acts as camouflage against the rocky terrain. Due to the fear of predation the Serrax are more cautious and paranoid than their larger cousins. Spending most of their days hopping along the rocky cliff faces instead of flying through the air. Taking to the skies may be easier in the hunt for food but it also makes it easier for larger Umbras to spot them. Luckily for Serrax's, flying is rarely required. Their ungulate-like hooves and long tail for balance make them excellent mountain climbers. The Serrax mountainous adaptations eventually led the people of Geodius to domesticating the creatures. Now it is quite common to see domesticated Serrax within Geodius’s city acting as mounts. Baby Serrax are also often used as household pets or familiars. This benefits both the Serrax and the humanoids. The Serrax get added protection from the city and their riders get the perfect mount and companion. - DocDullahan, TurtleGaming11
