In the seemingly empty abyss of the deep sea it can be hard for predators to even find prey swimming through the darkness. To solve this problem the Sea Rake grows massive fibrous tendrils that float down into the darkness. As the Sea Rake allows itself to be pulled by the currents its tendrils sweep through the abyss. If the tendrils happen to find a prey item they grip onto them with barbs that span the length of their tendrils. Then when the prey item attempts to get loose it will shred itself upon the barbs. After the prey has stopped struggling the tendrils pull the carcass up to its central mouth to be consumed. This method of feeding not only uses very little energy but allows the Sea Rake to find food even without the use of sight. As the Sea Rake ages its tendrils grow larger and larger allowing them to snag increasing large prey. However, if the Sea Rake ever grabs onto a victim that is too large they will simply hold onto the prey and allow themselves to be pulled through the darkness until they come free. This method allows Sea Rakes to travel vast distances without expending energy. While smaller Sea Rakes could be considered nuisances to some it is possible for them to grow to truly giant sizes. Becoming a threat to anything unlucky enough to be snagged in its barbed tendrils.
This CR1 creature is called a Sea Rake and is a Beast that lives mostly within the Ocean Depths.
