Screaming Wallows are large burrowing rodent-like creatures found throughout crypts and graveyards in the Musical Wilds. These scavengers have a haunting appearance due to the skin around their head being completely transparent and hairless, putting their skulls on full display. While their appearance may lead some to believe they are a form of undead their see through skin has many functions. Such as keeping their heads clean while they eat corpses, sexual dimorphism, and works as an excellent form of camouflage. Living in graveyards and crypts means that predators and prey alike are used to the constant sight of bones. Meaning a Screaming Wallows head poking out of a burrow is likely to remain overlooked if they remain motionless. The see through nature of their heads also functions as a sexual display in courtship rituals, as females find the Wallow with the largest teeth the most attractive. However, If their camouflage does not work they have strong vocal chords that enable them to let out a disorientating scream to either scare off predators or stun passing prey.
