Prickle Peepers are round plant monsters that inhabit the desert regions of Crius. These ambush hunters resemble cacti but with wide mouths and short stubby limbs. Generally solitary creatures the Peepers will spend their days mostly buried in sand completely motionless waiting for the sun to set to begin the hunt for prey. Their hunting strategy involves them simply waiting for prey to walk on by to swallow them whole. Unfortunately for them if they happen to miss the initial strike their clumsiness will make it easy for their prey to escape. While they may at first appear to be blind, they actually possess a pair of large eyes that they simply keep hidden during the daytime hours. It is believed they do this to avoid the bright sun harming their sensitive eyes and because having such large eyes would make their camouflage less effective. As they are not the largest or strongest of the predators lurking in the desert this camouflage is there to both help them hunt and avoid being hunted. Luckily if they are spotted the Peepers are covered in sharp venomous thorns, that will make most predators think twice before taking a bite.
