Stalking the murky riverbanks is a highly skilled armored hunter. Due to the low visibility in their environment, these predators rely on other senses besides sight to locate their prey. Equipped with facial whiskers that act as sensory organs, allowing them to smell and taste changes in the surrounding water. When they do manage to detect a smaller fish or crustacean the hunt is on. With their powerful streamlined bodies they are fast and agile swimmers. Allowing them to swiftly chase down their selected prey. Once within reach their powerful jaws make quick work of the unlucky prey. Unlike most aquatic animals, the Rivling has a set of mammalian-like paws instead of fins. That while functioning well as paddles, also come with another advantage. These paws allow the Rivling to drag themselves onto land. This adaptation is quite useful in times of drought or territorial disputes, when finding a new lake or river is advantageous.
