Long ago the wizards of Veargreum set out to make the perfect familiar companion. After countless experiments and trials the Papyrus Pup was born. This magical canines fur is made of the same material that spell scrolls are made of. It's not just made of the same material but can also be used just like regular spell scrolls by the pup. Unlike a wizard who makes the choice to activate a spell the Papyrus Pup merely has to shake off the spell scroll from their bodies. For when the scroll is disconnected from their body the spell will activate. Luckily, the pup is immune from any harmful spells it creates unlike the other beings in the area near it. Therefore despite their friendly demeanor and magical potential, wizards still have to be cautious when dealing with them. This leads to only the strongest and most dutiful wizards having Papyrus pups as familiars. Not only do they have the potential to shake off random dangerous spells but they also feed off of magical energy near them. An experienced wizard would have little to fear of a Papyrus Pup eating some of their magic. Whereas a less experienced magic user might find all their magic leeched away by these adorable familiars.
