Gook Grubs are large slime creatures that inhabit underground caves and passegways beneathe Crius. Here the Grubs are safe from the harmful sunlight of the surface that would dry out their gelatinous bodies. These fluid filled bodies are also perfect for allowing the slimes to slip through even extremely small rocky surfaces. To help them navigate in such dark environments they have a proboscis sticking up from their foreheads and nodules upon their backs, that gives off a faint glow. Not only does the glow allow them to see but it also illuminates their favorite food, poisonous mushrooms. Typically these mushrooms look very similar to their non-poisonous cousins. However, the strange light of the Gook Grub reacts with the chemicals on the poisonous mushrooms, causing them to glow. This diet is what first got the attention of inhabitants of the underground caverns. The humanoids living here now had a way to both get rid of poisonous mushrooms and have an extra light source. Now many generations later you can still find wild Grubs wandering the caves but most of them have been domesticated. Now living on underground mushroom farms where they both take care of the poisonous mushrooms but also are harvested for their tasty gelatinous material. This process does not harm the slime but instead allows them to release excess slime in their bodies. Despite eating a diet of poisonous mushrooms the gelatin of their bodies has no ill effects when consumed. Most likely something about their ooze negates the poison upon digestion.
