Frumps are short stocky amalgamations of bird and mammal originally bred in a secret alchemist lab far from the public's prying eyes. It is believed the minds behind the madness were looking to use these creatures to guard the lab from intruders. With its ability to both run and take flight, it would be a useful deterrent to any prying eyes. Unfortunately the alchemists designed it with so much aggression and stubbornness, not even they could command them. Even the application of control animals or charm spells had no effect on these hard headed monstrosities. Ultimately giving up on ever finding a use for the Frumps they were classified as a failure and scheduled for termination. Luckily for the Frumps the lab fell to ruin before that order could be taken out. The Frumps then escaped in large flocks into the wild where they found homes in caves and ruins.
