Deep below the ocean surface light is a scarce commodity. For that reason many creatures find ways to either produce light themselves or find ways to live without light. For hunters like the Crevice Cretin they found a way to take this scarcity and turn it into a deadly hunting strategy. Crevice Cretins typically inhabit dark undersea caves where they use their slender streamlike bodies to cram themselves into tight crevices. Once hidden in this way the Cretin deploys its hidden power. Opening its large mouth it emits a bright light to trick prey into thinking they are seeing the light from an undiscovered cave passage or perhaps they are closer to the surface than they thought. Once the unlucky victim gets close enough to see they have been tricked it is too late. The Crevice Cretin closes its large mouth with astonishing speed, either taking a good chomp out of a creature or swallowing it whole. Due to their large size and surprising intelligence, Crevice Cretins have been known to set up homes near underwater civilizations. Here they can better prey on humanoids who seek treasure or adventure. In fact many think Crevice Cretins take great pride in being able to successfully trick and kill creatures of higher intelligence. Their love for eating humanoids may also stem from their love of collecting magical and strange items. This desire means it is not uncommon for several Crevice Cretins to inhabit Trench Umbra lairs, as they show great admiration for Umbras power and hoards.

This CR7 creature is called a Crevice Cretin and is an Aberration that lives mostly within the Ocean Depths.
