On their initial discovery it was believed that the Brickboxers were a form of construct. Until further research was done, which discovered these stout canines merely have an outer layer of rocky material covering their bodies. Apparently the sweat that Brickboxers secrete hardens on top of their bodies, causing their rocky armor. This added weight from their armor had led Brickboxers to be very strong creatures, despite their small size. It is quite easy to discover the strongest member of a Brickboxers pack by observing which specimen has the largest and most ornate armor. Brickboxers periodically scrap off their rocky armor when it becomes too heavy for them. So in their social hierarchy it is a sign of strength to have as much armor as possible. In fact, it is usually the females of the species that are larger with the bulkiest armor. Their large size and strength leads them to be caretakers of pups and the territory. Using their large size for fighting while the smaller more agile males go hunting. Due to the Brickboxers' isolation on an island off the mainland, most of the general population of Veargreum never sees or even hears about them. However, they are a popular pet to the Tormek mountains royal family. The dwarves here admire them for their strength and rocky texture. Some royal family Brickboxers can even be seen expertly ornamented with engraved gemstones and intricate carvings.
