Bovian Bugs are subterranean arthropods that resemble exaggerated pillbugs, whose size rivals the average Mossback Bleater. Beneath these large bodies are thick, nubby, and numerous, legs. As they walk these legs press deep into the soft damp soil, leaving behind neat, shallow furrows. This constant churning of the ground makes their passage easy to identify in the fields. Farmers often say that a single Bovian Bug can till a plot more evenly than a team of laborers, simply by wandering through it over the course of a day. While these legs are powerful enough to hold up their large bodies and plow fields they cause the Bovian Bug to move quite slowly. This slow movement might cause problems for certain creatures but luckily they come equipped with segmented overlapping plates, which form a natural almost impenetrable armor. This armor allows the Bovians to take their time wandering the Gloom in search of soft fungus on which to graze. To help them find their favorite foods in such a dark environment these insects have large, black eyes to take in as much light as possible. Not only that but resting upon their heads are rounded antennae, which sense moisture, spores and familiar stomping grounds. These antennae also sense danger and decay. Meaning farmers in the underground farms often rely on the Bovians presence as a form of bioindicators. If herds of Bovian are staying around the farms it is a sign of a healthy and safe ecosystem. However, if the Bovians suddenly get up and leave the area it is considered a bad omen.
This CR1/4 creature is called a Bovian Bug and is a Beast that lives mostly within the Underground.
