Ammolotls are unique amphibians roughly 10ft or 3 meters long, native to the crystal caverns. Typically living in the brackish waters running through the cave system or in smaller ponds created from dripping stalactites. Originally these creatures hailed from the celestial planes but used the bridge crystals formed in the crystal caverns, to cross over into the material plane. Once in these caves their celestial energy merged with the cave's magic, to create the entirely new species we know of today. The patterns along their skin resemble ammolite gems helping them to blend in among the cave's abundance of crystals and gems. This unique pattern has inspired local legends of all kinds. Some say the patterns represent the circle of life and death. While others tell tales of the patterns being evidence of the creature's untrustworthyness. Whichever legend you choose to believe one thing for sure is that Ammolotls are very resilient and long lived creatures, usually surviving for a century at least. For hunting the Ammolotls have a very unique adaptation. As the Ammolotl age the underside of their chins fossilized into a hard stone. This stone allows them to smash or stun prey for easy consumption. Territorial males will even sometimes use these chin stones to battle for dominance, bashing the stones together to test their strengths. A truly remarkable species forged from divine origin and crystalline magic.

This CR2 creature is called a Ammolotl and is a Celestial that lives mostly within the Crystal Caves.
