As their name would suggest, Abyssal Otters live down in the lightless depths of Crius’s oceans. Luckily for the Otters they have large photoreceptive eyes and are capable of utilizing light magic in order to produce their own bioluminescence. Helping them to light up an otherwise inky void. Their beautifully colored streamline bodies are somewhat gelatinous in order to withstand the crushing pressure of the extreme depths. All except their chests, which are armored in order to protect their prized pearls. Here the Otters spend their time feeding on mollusks and searching for what they consider to be treasure. This thirst for treasure is what led these beings out of the fey realm and into the oceans of the material plane. However, this treasure can be anything from a chest of gold to a discarded spoon. All that matters is it catches the attention of these mischievous fey. Their love for treasure became so well known that even sailors tell stories of the Otters' obsession. These legends tell that the Otters love treasure so much that if you can convince them to make a trade they will grant any wish you desire. Unfortunately these stories are greatly exaggerated. While it is true that the Otters are willing to make trades of magic in exchange for treasure. Their magical abilities are limited to teleportation and light magic. Most likely the rumor of unlimited magic potential came from sailors lost at sea. Who made deals with the Otters to be sent home safely, a feat fully within the Otters powers.
